Warning
Below is a guide on the completion and submission of the Emergency Detention Certificate (EDT1)
Managers (or their delegate in Legal Office) accept form and note commencement of detention
Managers inform NOK, Named Person, Mental Welfare Commission, any Attorney or Guardian, and the Local Authority (in cases where no MHO consent was obtained)
Managers confirm that they have fulfilled their s.260 obligations under the 2003 Act (regarding provision of information and advocacy)
(In NHS-L at this point admin staff also add the certificate to SciStore, update the ‘Notification and Legal’ tab in the EPR with the detention dates, and add the detention icon to the top right of the EPR)
