To identify those at most risk of harm, the medication case finding indicators have been used to prioritise these patients for review. An evidence review has been undertaken of the indicators. These have then gone through a research and development process to reach consensus on the inclusion of the indicators, taking into consideration the prevalence of the safety issues. There are 69 case finding indicators. These are detailed in Case Finding Indicators to prioritise patients for review. These have been developed into a computerised decision-making tool in the GP IT system and is approved by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
